"Down Dog" Awarded BEST SHORT FILM Kudos at First Annual Boulder Fest
(February 20, 2005) BOULDER, Colorado -- On the evening following a sold out world premiere screening of "Down Dog" before 700 festival attendees at the Boulder Theatre, Richard Roll's film was awarded "BEST SHORT FILM" honors. "The Beeck Sisters and the Boulder community did an amazing job creating, hosting and promoting this festival. It is a rare occurance when an filmmaker has the opportunity to exhibit for a sold out crowd, let alone the very first screening of my very first film at a venue like the Boulder Theatre", commented writer-director Richard Roll. "Premiering my first fillm for the Boulder audience under these circumstances is a dream come true. In adddition, "Down Dog" was programmed with such wonderful films as "The Real Old Testament" , "Gay By Dawn" and "Mighty Squirrel". I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time." Other festival awards went to Sean McAllister's "Liberace of Baghdad" (Award of Excellence); Curtis and Paul Hannum's "The Real Old Testament" (Best Feature Film); Deb Hagen and Leslie Evers' "Pee Shy" (Best Student Film); Neil Widener's "Subdivision, Colorado" (Best New Filmmaker); Patrick and Kim Mallek's "Mighty Squirrel and Road Raged Rodent" (Best Animated Film); Rita and Chela Blitt's "Caught In Paint" (Best Short Documentary); Michael Brown's "Farther Than The Eye Can See" (Best Adventure FIlm); and Jim Butterworth, Aaron Lubarsky and Lisa Sleeth's "Seoul Train" (Best Documentary).

"Down Dog" World Premiere at First Annual Boulder International Film Festival
(February 1, 2005) BOULDER, Colorado -- "Down Dog" will make its world premier screening Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the first annual Boulder International Film Festival, to be held February 17-20, 2005. "Down Dog" will screen at the historic 1000 seat Boulder Theatre as part of Program 15 before the feature film "The Real Old Testament" which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prizee at the 2004 Slamdance Film Festival. "I am thrilled to premier my film as part of a new festival and believe my comedy will resonate with the Boulder audience," said director Richard Roll.
